THE PRESS GATHERS TO HEAR GM DOUG ADDRESS HIS DECISION TO LEAVE TUCSON FOR CLEVELAND

GM Dougie

Well by no means whatsoever was this as easy decision. I think a lot of people out there are going to look at my tenure in Tucson and think that I just couldn't get it done so I ran away from the team and that's a false narrative. I just heard that Pancho is taking over and I think he's setup for great success and so long as Tucson isn't playing Cleveland in the Impact Bowl, I will be rooting for them to continue to have great success. It was very tough overall. I have so much respect for the organization and how they've allowed me to grow and evolve as a general manager.

I've done things with a lot of stability in my career. I inherited a team and did my best to keep talent. I kept the coaching staff together for longer than some people think I should have. It was "hard" to "pass" Travis Knight away. I'm a man of faith and chances. But this time around I decided to be the one to take the chance.

You all know that I'm from Cleveland. Being able to take the reigns of a great franchise, one who was just in the impact bowl no less, is an incredible opportunity. I clearly understand the expectations here and anything but a repeat will be a disappointment in not just the eyes of Cleveland fans but in mine as well. This is an extremely talented roster, a great staff, ownership I respect, and really truly the decision came down to the chance to do this job I love at home in the city I love. That's why I'm here. I'm ready to work.

GM Doug, welcome to the Stallions.  My name is Brenda and I'll be your assistant and press secretary.

Once you get comfortable and handle any business you need to, we will lock in to close out Season 17 and then I will get your off-season primer document ready with our draft picks, budget, and a better view of our updated roster.  GM Wayne had promised me a nice bonus for getting some dirty work done for him last season, but he left without League Officing the payment, so if you are feeling generous, It would be the best start to a famous relationship!

GM Dougie

Thank you Brenda. What did he promise to you?

Talon

He didnt put a real figure out, but I was thinking $500K

GM Dougie

That's funny...because he told me something with a little less zeroes in it. Not to be rude but I think that's an issue you should take up with him. He abandoned this place to go international...he has plenty of money. In the menatime, could you please get me Coach Blitzer?

----

Coach, are you looking to run it back? Two more years at the same salary...make an Impact Bowl again and we'll redo the deal afterward. What do you say?

Talon

Well that is...  that is BULLSHIT.    UGH!  Whatever, see if I do anything nice for you.

...The Audacity!

Yeah, I can handle that.  You know, I've been through three owners now and five GMs since I became head coach here in Season 7?
Wild stuff, yeah?

GM Dougie

I think that speaks to how outstanding of a coach you are. Thank you for your continued service to Cleveland and I look forward to more conversations with you going forward.

----

Brenda may I please speak with Drew Leventhal?

----

Drew, Doug Fresh here, we have some room in our salary cap left from this season and I wanted to run it by you if I could pay out Maxley's $1MM right now instaed of with the off-season bonus? Its guaranteed his money either way. Please let me know.

Talon

GM Dougie

Thank you Drew.

----

Coach, my first question for you, we have some areas that will need filled in the offseason as we have a number of expiring contracts. I have the opportunity to do some negotiations. Are there any areas of immediate need which I should address?

Talon

Hey Mr. Squinty face, your paperwork error got us fined $500K for saying all those deals were for the Tucson Stars.

...too bad you didn't spend that money on my bonus, I'd have caught the error for you.    Oh well.

Luckily the majority of our core is under contract, I'll leave personnel decision up to you unless you have some specifics you wanted to go over.

GM Dougie

Well maybe Brenda if the literal first thing that happened to me upon my arrival to Cleveland was being asked for money, maybe I might not have messed up paperwork. Oh well. I'll see to the fine.

----

Thank you coach, I'm going to look over some things when I get a chance and handle business. I appreciate you.

Talon

Oh, and Happy Birthday, you big Jerk!

GM Dougie

You're so kind. May you get me Eli Harris please?

----

Good morning sir. I want to see if Noah McCoy wants to run it back here in Cleveland. From what I could see in the TE room last season, there was competition for production. We don't have a TE under contract next season. I think there's an opportunity to take hold of the position. I want to offer a 2 year contract at the same salary $4MM per season. I also want to commit some additional training for Noah during our offseason to support his growth in the system.

Talon

GM Dougie

Thank you sir.

I'll be in touch with more business as needed.

----

Brenda, Wander Worldwide please!

----

Good day sir. I want to talk about Lubanzi. I'm grateful for his service to the Mustangs. One of the things I'm uncertain of is if he's made it to a position where he wants to continue his career in HIFL. However should he choose to, we would welcome him back. Do you know if he's seeking to be with us for another run at an Impact Bowl and what we would be potentially looking at?

Talon

I believe he is leaning towards retirement but if he doesn't, we would likely look at a $5MM deal for one year.

GM Dougie

I'm willing to put that on our books for S18 and if he retires then we obviously understand. Just say the word.

$12MM to return for the next two seasons.

GM Dougie

Thank you for that information. I'll keep it under consideration.

----

Ok we will certainly have a lot of work to do in the offseason. We will work on revamping things.

GM Fresh, in the event either of coordinators get an offer for a head coaching position, I'd like to know what the max I'll have in my budget to retain them would be. PM me the figures when you think about it, and if we don't wish to retain them at all, let me know so they don't miss out on an interview out of loyalty when we don't plan to bring them back.
