GM Eli

I had time tonight that I didn't expect to have so, we're starting a little early.

We have a 9 player game of Secret Hitler. Here are some specifics to remember about 9 players:

There are 5 liberals, 3 fascists, and a secret hitler who is on the fascist team.

Presidential Powers in this game when fascist policies are played:
1st - Investigate Loyalty
2nd - Investigate Loyalty
3rd - Special Election
4th - Kill
5th - Kill and Veto Power unlocked

Things true in every game:

The deck contains 6 liberal (blue) and 11 fascist (red) policies.
Everyone votes for government even if you're in it. Majority rules so in this case 5 yes votes approves a government. Vote: Yes/No If it ain't bolded I ain't counting it. Once a president picks a chancellor, you get 24ish hours to vote.
3 consecutive governments that fail to be approved result in the top policy of the deck being played.
All policy draws will be through private communication.
President always goes in order. If you were in a government the previous turn you cannot be in government the next turn unless you were chancellor and its suddenly your turn to be president.

Any questions, please message me.

----

It's night time in Germany and once again the fascists are up to no good. Can YOU stop the Secret Hitler?

----

Seating Order for the game:

Josh
Pancho
Franchise
Kirk
Powers
Oldfield
Fosters
Gooch
Doug

Therefore...to save time, Josh is first president. You first goal to get the game started is to publicly nominated a chancellor for government.

Lets go!

GM Pancho

I assume we are going Douglas since he is last at the table? I know I am next to be president so I won't be a likely candidate - even if I am a good candidate.

I can agree with this logic.

GM Dougie

First and foremost I'm rolled up.

Second, IDGAF how this game goes, Eli deserves all the goodness for giving me the chance to actually play.

Third, plenty of us toward the end. I'm obviously game to be chancellor whether it be now or anytime early on before it gets to my side of the table.

I disagree mainly because of the whole "they're a liberal" without proof of it or any reasoning than "they passed a blue policy" that I noticed from the last game. The key is in the discarded cards which can easily be lied about. Eli's vote no thinking from last game is definitely in my line of thinking after how the last game went. Just my opinion about that.

GM Mike Powers

I didn't play last game, so that means nothing to me. I think someone at the end of the table, who won't be chancellor for a while, should be president over someone who will have power soon. At least for the first go round. Obviously, once we have information to go on - policies enacted, claimed discards, etc - that will inform our decisions.

GM Kirk

Franchise, the theory is that Doug wouldn't be in a position to hurt us again until much later down the line. That doesn't usually hold true as the first government often passes blue and they both return to power pretty quickly. I'd go with Gooch or Fosters, though. Doug is the secret Hitler expert, so I'd rather hold off on him having power until we see how he plays.

I disagree. No one knows anyone's alignment right now and I'm not trusting anyone even this early in the game. Passing a blue could always be used as a cover for further manipulation down the line so I'm not going by that either.

People lie about their information all the time so I'm not going by what people are saying. The cards will always be different than what information is out there so I'm not going by that either. As for President someone in the middle since going for someone at the end of the table is the popular route and I don't think it's a good move to do. Middle would be better just in case there's a fascist or two near the end of the table which is a possibility.

GM Oldfield

GM Josh

Got my role.

I'll nominate Doug both cause he's at the end and because he modded last game.

GM Franchise

Vote: No

I think this was said for a reason and I'm voting no because of this. Literally anyone asking to be chancellor will be an automatic no from me the entire game for future reference. It's something that makes me skeptical about the motives of the player about wanting to be picked for that position.

GM Kirk

Franchise, you have pretty much said that you won't trust anyone about anything, you won't trust the cards and you will vote no to everything. Hoe does that attitude help anyone?

GM Oldfield

Franchise gonna franchise.

Anyway, i will Vote yes . I like both reasons.

GM Gooch

GM Eli

Voting for Josh/Doug

Yes - 2
No - 1

Voting phase deadline is 8am EST tomorrow. 5 votes are needed for a majority.

GM Dougie

Also I'll be camping between this afternoon and Sunday but I'll respond whenever I get a chance.

GM Fosters

I can get behind this government. I also have my role.

Vote Yes

GM Eli

We are in policy phase. No talking, please.

GM Eli

The government has met and have enacted a...

Liberal Policy

Talking may resume. Pancho is the next president. Josh and Doug are ineligible to become chancellor.

GM Fosters

Good start! Standard what did you bet given and what did you discard?

Franchise, you have pretty much said that you won't trust anyone about anything, you won't trust the cards and you will vote no to everything. Hoe does that attitude help anyone?

It'll help later on when the liberals figure out who's really a liberal and who's a fascist. Doing the opposite of this is what I foresee as bad strategy in this game.

Anyway, i will Vote yes . I like both reasons.

Franchise going to end up with the right idea when it's 3-2 later on and people start seeing why I'm saying all of this early in the game.

Failed governments lead to random cards getting chosen. Still I don't trust the "I discarded _ and _ card" when it sometimes is bullshit

How am I getting frozen exactly? I'm trying to prevent the "They're a liberal" without proof nonsense from happening again.

Vote: Yes

Gooch did not ask to be Chancellor so I'm voting yes for that reason even if I disagree with their posts about my strategy.

GM Oldfield

Makes sense

Vote yes

Can we please have the cards guys so we can maintain the total

The total won't add up down the line, I'm calling it now. They'll be a red President or two that will cause that.

GM Dougie

Can we not finish the voting until cards are talked about please?

I was given 2 blues. I really hope Josh discarded a red but it would have been better if I was given one of each so I could have proven myself.

GM Josh

2 blues and a red.

Saw you were going camping and wanted to make it as easy as possible. Plus why risk a red accidentally getting picked cause you were busy. Right Franchise.

Since I'm clearly not frozen with my line of thinking or as you called it "extreme WIFOM" after that fascist policy was just played, I gotta ask who's the fascist? Is it you or Gooch?

GM Pancho

I received 3 reds. And passed two reds to Gooch. Knowing that wouldn't give us much into his alignment I investigated Gooch. I understand I am the source but he came up Liberal for what it's worth.

I passed two reds to Gooch. Please believe him if you don't believe me.

GM Gooch

He passed me two red. Pancho is telling the truth about that.

GM Franchise

Very convenient if you ask me. For my pick I was leaning Kirk until a I saw he's next so Oldfield is a possibility. Got a think on this after what just happened with the last policy.

GM Kirk

If you gave Gooch two reds, why would you investigate him? Particularly considering he's down at the bottom of the table? Surely it makes more sense to investigate Franchise considering he's the next president?

GM Mike Powers

Quote from: GM Pancho on June 17, 2022, 11:55:37 PM

If I understand that comment correctly, Pancho wanted to test Gooch by giving him a red and a blue to choose from. Since he had no choice but to pass on 2 reds, he used the investigate on him.

Not what I woulda done, but I at least understand his reasoning.

GM Franchise

I don't understand it at all. It's too convenient which to me is usually highly unlikely to be true. I'm more in line with Kirk's line of thinking on this. Speaking of that Kirk, Powers, and Oldfield are the players right now I think are most likely to be liberal so one of them will be my choice. Going to pick tomorrow to avoid a repeat of what just happened.
