You're a gentleman and a scholar, James T.
****

Shay, let's try Eli Harris for a shot.

****

Eli! My guy! it's TD in KC.

I'm reachin' out to ya about Deon Wentworth. I've got a sharp rookie but to get a veteran guard opposite of Johnson, would be a plus for the SkyBear Offense.

I'd like to get 1 year Fully Guaranteed at 4M Salary & 1.25M Bonus

Talon

We'll take that deal.  It's not what we had hoped for this off-season, but it is what it is.

GM Dario

Sometimes we got to play the cards that we're dealt. Appreciate you Dealin' with me.
****

Shay, I need your expertise on this one because I don't know who's the right agent here.

****

Appreciate you takin' My call. There's a rookie linebacker outta UMass named Troy Jones that's your client. I'd like to get him signed into a one year 350K flyer if I could.

GM Dario

Just saw he signed with Charlotte. Can't get 'em all

****

Shay, I need your expertise again....

****

Appreciate ya takin' My call. There's a rookie linebacker outta FSU named George Michel that's your client. I think he'd make a good Wham on the field in SkyBear Colors. Let's make a 1 year UDFA deal at 400k, please.

Talon

GM Dario

My mistake in the paperwork gotcha an extra 100k. But I'm good with it.
****

Shay, dial those magic digits one more time please.

****

Appreciate ya takin' My call. There's a local big man outta K-State named Jeffrey Mattingly that's your client. Sometimes ya just gotta buy local so Let's make a 1 year UDFA deal at 350k, if ya will..

Talon

GM Dario

Just like the meme-  Niccccccccce

****

Alright Shay, that's 53 and under the cap. The Skybear has blessed us on this one.

Do we have an idea on when we might get some options from the Egyptians to go to our IPS this Season?

Talon

Yep! After training camp lock ins.

Make or break season it sounds like, boss.

GM Dario

Shay, it definitely is.
It's good to have ya back for this season as well.
Time to see if we can't get the party started though.
I'll need Coach Graham please.

*****

Coach Graham, welcome back to SkyBear Country.
The High Chief says It's Make or Break.
I'm hopin' for the former, not the latter.
But if we're goin' down, we're goin' down swingin'.

Not a lot of new faces on the squad, but A-Mac is definitely the brightest, shiniest face.
How does the 2 Time PFL MVP fit with Coach Cannon's offense?

Talon

Alejandro looks amazing.  Finally looks like we have a true cornerstone at the position.   We've got to see how everyone meshes on the field, but he's looking great.

GM Dario

I do like the edge he brings to the offense.

Our skill players look great and Jeudy steppin' up as Camp MVP is def a Huge Get.

On the line, we added Vega and Wentworth to start.
How do they look on the run and pass compared to what we had last year?
And is Asher as good or better than Vega, just without any pro exp?

Talon

All of our starting linemen have a very balanced skill set so we shouldn't have a glaring weakness in the blocking schemes.  At Center Asher is very much on the same level as Vega in terms of skills and traits but he is a little weaker and he is far behind in the position skill/understanding which has him in the second spot right now.  If he keeps working on his position training he will quickly become our top center.

GM Dario

So most likely higher upside on Asher after it's all said and done.

Defensively, we look to have a very good front seven for Coach Shoes. Can we generate enough pass rush out of the front four to have Jack, Blodgett and Marks work on Pass Coverage or will we need to turn the aggression up to limit the corners stayin' on islands?

Talon

Big Plunk is gonna have to be our primary sack man I believe, I dont think Wiley has that type of explosive move and Ira, while giving us 19 sacks across the last two years is still best against the run, but I think we will generate pressure enough.

GM Dario

Sounds good to me.

Well Coach, I think it's time to Shuffle Up and Deal, SkyBear Style!!

WEEK 1 PRESS QUESTIONS

1. Discuss your performance and result for week 1. What were some sustains, and what were some improvements going into week 2?

2. Random drug test, huh?  Thoughts?

3. Coming out of training camp and now seeing the team in week 1, what should fans expect to see this year from your club?

4. Did any news catch your eye this week?

5. Discuss your next opponent and game.

GM Dario

THAT'S HOW WE DO IT!!! Ya stay with it. Ya keep it close. Ya make El Splasho Plays.... then I told the Mongolian, and I quote from one of the best movies all time - "You just hold the ball, and I'll kick the bloody piss out of it."  And from SIXTY MOTHER EFFIN TWO... It's Ball Game -  Bruins BABY!"

Total Team Effort on all sides of the ball and we send the home fans happy!

Alright kiddos - Let's get to this!

1. Discuss your performance and result for week 1. What were some sustains, and what were some improvements going into week 2?

A-Mac said what he said, then backed it up. 32/36, 4 Dimes, No Picks. Runnin' Wolf, Awesome day on the groud. JeudyJeudyJeudy with Two Tuds. Everyone got involved on the O... and Blodgett was FIYAH on Defense. Career Day for James, including that clutch pick at the end.

But we still got work to do. Offense has to hold onto the ball a bit better. Gotta cut down on the penalties. GOTTA Stop people on 3rd down. 8 of 11 ain't gonna cut it. We gave up 45, but scored 48... and that Dub is what matters.

On to Week Two

2. Random drug test, huh?  Thoughts?

Hey, I'm not gonna say nothin' about gettin' tested. Grant ya, I'm one of the eldest in the league, but it's 100% Dario in here, with no Fillers or Additives. I think they just saw this BOMB FROM WAY DOWNTOWN and had to make sure it's all good... And it is, Baby!

3. Coming out of training camp and now seeing the team in week 1, what should fans expect to see this year from your club?

Man... can we click on offense or what. We only had Three 3rd down opportunities in this game. We stayed ahead of the sticks , which is what we need to do against  many of these teams. But we also need to get a bit more ToP, and we gotta get the D off the field. We're by no means a total team just yet, but I don't see many who are... yet.

4. Did any news catch your eye this week?

Speakin' of tests, someone checkin' a few of the O-Lines for Trazadone, cause they were sleepin' while these Sacks were happenin'.. 7 Sack, 10, Sacks, 14 Sacks.  687484 Sacks.  I mean DAMN!

Good to see our BrothersFromEgyptianMothers pull off a Draw after that 18 point comeback in the 4th against the Fins.

Huge news with that kid Reed out for Michigan. Tough to replace a guy with his skill. And ya hate to see a guy like Wiese fall after that nasty injury, esp with the game in hand. Part of football though.

Liberty pullin' another Shocker.  Flame On!

5. Discuss your next opponent and game.

No rest for the weary as the SkyBear's team heads to Sin City. Vegas is definitely a Needle Up Team with Larkin controllin' things on Offense, but if we can get them to 3rd down, and especially 3 and long, we can get the ball back. The Biggest thing we HAVE TO DO IS We gotta stop T2 from gettin' in the backfield like he did against Rapid City.  10 Tackles, 7 Sacks, He's a monster to face but then add in the guys around him, T2 is one of those difference makers, and we gotta stop him from makin' a difference on us.

Questions for me??

Talon

What a game, what a finish!  Alejandro, James, Wolf, You.. man we had a total team effort.

GM Dario

Huuuuuuuuge Dub for us and a good way to start us off. I did notice that we didn't get much production outta the front four, and Brandon was active in the Secondary with 5 Tackles, while Driver didn't log a stat. Was that more scheme driven or just a better fit on Defense?

Talon

After one week, I'll never not say Its too early to know.

GM Dario

True. No need to overdo it just yet.

"Don' think, you'll only hurt the ball club."

I'm just gonna roll with your rec's on handlin' the Vegas D and stoppin' Larkin from beatin' us on the big play.
I'll circle back to ya in a bit.

****

Shay, I need our QB1 please.

****

Alay! Alay! Alejandro!!!!
That's how a McGheeVP SZN starts.  Fantastic work against Salt Lake.
The Vision is definitely clear, Baby!

Talon

One step closer to making 31 other GM's regret not even picking up the phone or sending a scout.

GM Dario

That's what I wanna hear. Let's make Vegas pay, Baby!!
****

Shay, I need Coach Graham again, before we close up this week.

****

Coach, with Campbell out for 2 weeks, is Kozlowski or Silver our best option at TE2? Or would Gonzalez or one of our other WRs be better?

Talon

I think we go with Silver, he's got softer hands.

GM Dario

On it....

Time to roll the dice again.
Let's see if we can keep the SkyBear on a hot streak!

Silver to TE2
Campbell Inactive

LOCKED IN BABY!!!

GM Dario

SEASON 16 - WEEK 2

Welcome to the HIFL, Where you can go from the penthouse to the outhouse in one week.  Or, as they'd say in Vegas, you hit it big or lose it all.
But that's life as a Kicker too- From the GOAT to the goat.

Let's do this Baby!

1. What stood out to you about your team this week, any surprise performances good or bad?

Really gutted for the guys this week. We played good in spots. and not so good in spots. We can't give up that many yards in the air. We did stop SJax but had no answer for Pierce. Overall. I thought we played really well on Defense. It coulda easily been a blowout but 3 times, they had to settle for 3 instead of 6. Our boys just were out there too long though. Marks is still smilin' after that Pick Six, but we needed to take some of that ToP to make it more reasonable for our boys.

We gotta hope that AMac is ready for the Dam this week, But I was happy with what Tate did in relief. We didn't have the offensive firepower that we had against Salt Lake, but that's also Kudos to that Vegas D.  3 Turnovers, 7 TFL's, 4 Sacks, 10 hurries, and 8 knockdowns really tattooed our guys. I gotta feelin' we'll bounce back though at home.

But I do like how this team looks compared to last season. Def a Needle Up Team.

2. Discuss any news that interested you. (Cover your news first; then move on)

MANNNNNN I was feelin' out there in OT and really thought that I had that 59'er down.  But dang if it didn't come up short. Just the way it goes sometimes.

Hate to see all the injuries, but again, part of HIFL. Hoak, Slinger, McLendon, Larkin, Jarvis, Dickey,  Colvin - some real difference makers could be or will be on the sidelines this week. AMac and Ira might be out as well. But one down, means one comes up. That's what you want though.

Gonna be Keepin' eyes on that Peppers thing.  Could be a turn off to some teams seein' the kid mailin' it in.

Huerta might be in line for a HIFL job after the season.

IFAF still has plenty of talent, even after the exodus this past off season.

3. Talk about your next match up, how do you win this game?

We host Amsterdam at the SkyBear's Wigwam this week.   We need to control the ToP to win this game. Steady offense, limit our mistakes and Keep the ball out of AJ's hands to limit their chances and we'll be lookin' at 2-1 and the top half of the division.

****

Coach, tough L this week. I really thought we had this one.  We coulda used Campbell on the Blocking, but I liked what Coach Cannon had worked out for our boys to try and hold back T2 and company. It worked but our stats paid for it... And Kudos to Coach Shoes as well for tryin' to confuse the kid. We just couldn't get off the field on D. The Snap count looks like it was all over the place because of it. Mattingly and Levin got some stats, as did Owens and Wiley, but the kid Brandon has 14 tackles in 2 games, and Driver doesn't have a stat.  Is Driver just not making plays on his snaps or has Brandon stepped up and become that Big Safety we'd been lookin' for?

Talon

Brandon has shown he has what it takes to play, amazing size and frame and his hunger as an UDFA is just making him stand out.  I think if we are going to bring one of the two back next year it should be him, so I've been getting him on the field more and more and he's showing up.  I wouldn't say he's in line to be a super star, but a solid enough starter at a price point that maximizes his value in my eyes.  I know the money isn't my job, but I know how it goes.

GM Dario

I definitely like what he brings to the table. It's like havin' a fourth linebacker out there don't have any give up anythin' in the secondary. Yeah he's a little bit raw still, but he's learnin' on the fly beside of Manny.  So I'm definitely gonna try to get Brandon to lock in for a couple more years with us.

Now I want to switch gears just a bit because I know that Zebow sorta inferred about a few QBs possibly headin' down to San Antonio. When it comes to McGhee, Tate and Hensley, is there very much of a drop off between the three? I know Hensley has a High IQ,  And Tate probably has the best arm strength and McGhee has all the intangibles you want but I also don't want a Hallquist-type situation to happen, so I wanna know what I've got before making any decisions.

Talon

McGhee is a bon-a-fide starter.  Date and Hensley are both young fringe guys who can start, but aren't franchise QBs right now either.   The drop from Tate to Hensley is slim, similar arm strength, but Tate is the more athletic and has better accuracy while Hensley has better IQ and decision making prowess.

GM Dario

That's a good dive into the QB room, Coach.   Def appreciate the info. I'd like to talk with Daniel, will ya send him in as ya head back to the field?

****

Daniel, good to see ya. I know it's been a bit since we brought ya in and we really haven't had the chance to talk. Just to be crystal here, I got ya from Milwaukee to compete for the start, but things came together to get Alejandro and that's where it all landed. No slight on your part, just puttin' it out .

I've been in your shoes before, waitin' for the time to start and take the helm ya know? Ya came in relief last week and did a bang up job. But  I saw what Zebow said, but I also read what Quist said too, so I'm askin ya if the chance to play or start, and someone reaches out, do you wanna go or would ya rather stay in KC?

Talon

I am one hundred percent sure I am a starter in this league, so if a job is open and they want me, I want to go.  That's for sure.

GM Dario

Def appreciate the Candor, Daniel. I thought I saw that spark on the field last season and in camp this season. So, I'll make that deal if the call is made. Head back to practice and I'll let ya know if things change.

****

Shay, will ya get Mr. Crain on the phone.

****

James T! It's Tylen D.

Wanted to get a feel for an extension for Robert Brandon. I know hes gonna be a RFA at the end of the season but I think he looks good in Skybear Colors. I'd like tack on a 2 year Extension at 4M plus 1M Bonus starting in S17.

Can we make this happen?

Talon

We can definitely do that. Make it so.

GM Dario

We will MAKE IT SO, Mr. Crain.

*****

Shay, Best get Coach Graham to me to close things up for this week.

*****

Coach, I got an offer on Tate and decided to take it.  I would have loved to had one more CB but the money didn't make sense.  We moved Tate and Moore out and brought in Jae Mack from the BBB, and Sammy Davis, plus a 3rd for next season. We also locked in Brandon for S17/S18 so let's see if that hunger keeps buildin' in the kid.

Obviously with the changes, Randy will go to QB2, Mack to QB3.  With the linebackers, It's Jack, Blodgett, Marks, and Dalton 1-4... But what's your suggestion with Davis, Martino and Michel?

Talon

They are all on the average at best side of the speed wheel, so I'd say it goes Davis, Michel, then Martino in order of talent.

GM Dario

I'm good with that—

Let's go do the Dam thing!!!

Lineup edits-

QB2 Hensley
QB3 Mack

WR3 Williams
WR4 Atherton
WR5 Wilcox

LB5 Davis
LB6 Michel
LB7 Martino

CB4 Navarrete
CB5 Owens

SEASON 16 - WEEK 3

One Big ol DUB for the Skybear's team this week. Not our best offensive display, given that Monsoon, but yowie wowie did the That KC D come up YUUUUUUUGE!

Gotta agree with my boy A-MAC by sayin' Manny got Robbed. But Manny will also be the first to tell ya- The accolades don't matter, Wins do and We took home our 2nd win of the season.

Seein' us at 2-1 feels good, but seein' both Big Bear and Plunkett go down, really hits us in the Gut. I thought Coach Shoes did a bang-up job gettin' creative with the LBs and the secondary really puttin' on stats for the short-handed DLine durin' the game. But now I gotta help him out before we head to the Great State of Lincoln this week.

Speakin' of Lincoln, it's a Midwest Divisional game so we're not lookin' at the records. The Pride is just that, prideful, and we gotta play 110% or we're gonna be headin' to the bye at 50/50... and we don't want that.

Big shout out to our Egyptian Brothers from Other Mothers for stayin' Undefeated after that 35-All Draw against the Deutschlanders. Lookin' Good Pharoahes!  KC's Walkin' with Ya!

Now- Who's got Questions, Baby?!?

Talon

GM Dario

Definitely like Seein' that winning' percentage above 500, and if we can get into the bye at 750, man, this season could TBE for us.

But we have a huge gap we gotta fill. Big Bear and Gary P are both out this week.  We will go with Wiley and Levin but do we have in-house options to work with as depth? Fullerton, Mattingly, maybe Davis or Dalton?  Or Run more of a 2-5 or 3-4 set? Without the DTR, we will have to cut to find a DE or two, but I wanted to see what you, Coach Shoes and Coach Amaya had to work with first.

Talon

If we want to be more run focused on defense I'd go with Fullerton and/or Mattingly. If we want to be more pass rush then I'd go with Martino and Sammy Davis.

GM Dario

Got it noted, Coach. Let's see if we can get a DE to help balance this out.
Back with ya in a bit.

****

Shay, gonna need some of ya magic here. I'll need the agent for Rookie DE Charles Cochran please.

****

How are ya?? It's Dario in KC. I'm sure ya saw the injury report and were probably expectin' a call.  CC had some solid numbers at ODU last season and I'm lookin' for a high motor guy to help us out.

I'm offerin' a double min deal for CC-
This season at 350k, next season at 750k

Can we pull a Monty Hall here and make a deal?

ELI HARRIS ACCEPTS YOUR OFFER

GM Dario

Eli!! My man!! I appreciate it.

****

Shay, I dunno how you do that voodoo you do, but keep doin' it!!!

I'll need Coach Graham once again.

****

Coach, I picked up the Cochran kid from ODU.  We will need to get Coach Shoes, Coach Reyes and Coach Armstrong to give him a crash course on things. I'm guessin' he can slot in at DE3 behind Levin and Wiley for this week. We can use Fullerton on DE4 and Martino for DE5, keepin' them as situational subs.

With Gonzalez being waived, would York or Nieves be better to slot in at WR6?

Talon

Definitely York, he's a swiss army knife.

GM Dario

Noted, Coach.

I gotta shoot straight, Coach. This is a bit of a unique position we're in. A chance to go 3-1 before the bye hasn't happened in KC in.... Way Too long.

I do like how the team is playin' on both sides of the ball. Lincoln hasn't played typical Lincoln ball so far this year. Even with us down 3 injured, I do like our chances with how Ol' Mo is on our side right now.

I know my time is sorta split between GM and Kicker but How's the mood amongst the coaches and the rest of the players?

Talon

we're 2-1 and only lost by 3 to Vegas, I feel like you should know we're in good spirits. C'mon man.

GM Dario
